Hampshire Unit 1125 which later ran as 205025 prior to being purchased by the Mid Hants Preservation Society (later the Watercress Line Heritage Trust) where it resumed its original number. The Unit is kept on the Watercress line.
Constructed as a three car Hampshire Unit (classified 3H) by British Railways at Eastleigh Works, 1125 entered passenger service 15th December 1959, having been released from the works on the 12th.
The first recorded working of unit 1125 on the Watercress line was 21st April 1960, when she worked the 14:53 hrs Southampton Terminus to Alton service then the subsequent 15:53 hrs departure from Alton to Portsmouth Service.
The unit was a regular visitor to the line up until the last day of British Railways operations on 4th February 1973.
On the last day, 1125 was paired with sister unit 1121 into a five car service, and formed the 20:02 hrs departure from Alton to Southampton service, this was the penultimate Hampshire unit departure from Alton before closure of the line.
That wouldn't be the end of the association with the line as on the 18th May 2004, by then renumbered as 205025 would return to the Watercress Line following retirement from mainline service.
